Congratulations to the Curley Park Rangers U14 Youth team who became Hampshire County Cup champions on Saturday after triumphing in a tense penalty shootout. In a closely fought final against Laverstock & Ford FC, Curley had a chance to wrap up the match in the final minute however, with a shot narrowly missing the target, the game went on to the dreaded penalties. Having lost the previous year’s County Cup final on penalties Curley were determined to go one better this year and never looked back after the goalkeeper’s fantastic early penalty save. This was followed by clinical finishing from all four Curley penalty takers until the fifth and final penalty was calmly put away to ensure Curley Park lifted that trophy for the very first time.
Team Manager, Lee Davison-Poltock commented, “Not many players get the chance to experience a County Cup Final and I’m delighted for the boys to finally get their hands on the trophy at the fourth time of asking. As a coach it is a privilege to manage such a wonderful group of boys, many of whom have been with the club from 6 years old. Their hard work and dedication has finally paid off and I couldn’t be prouder.”
